As recorded by the Buddy Rich Big Band on their album "The New One," this great arrangement is full of fire and energy. Set as an up-tempo shuffle, this is a wonderful chart that features lots of soloists with dynamic ensemble writing throughout. There is solo space for alto saxophone, tenor saxophone and trombone. In addition, there is a saxophone soli, a short trumpet section soli (a la Dizzy), and a great shout chorus (actually two). "The Rotten Kid" makes for an outstanding opener or closer to any concert program! 5-4-4-4
