Rich DeRosa, Professor of Jazz Composition at the University of North Texas, has written an exquisite ballad in dedication to Neil Slater (UNT Jazz Studies chair and director of One O’Clock Lab Band, retired). Originally recorded by the UNT One O’Clock Lab Band on their album Lab 2015, “Neil” features the piano with a lot of room to improvise, combined with gorgeous, lush, legato ensemble passages. Quite playable by most bands, this chart has very limited brass ranges (highest note for trumpet is a written G) and will be a fantastic addition to any concert program! This “pro” version requires 10-brass. 5-5-5-3
