Rich DeRosa, Professor of Jazz Composition at the University of North Texas, provides yet another wonderful Christmas arrangement to the Sierra Music catalog. DeRosa’s delightful, contemporary setting on “God Rest Ye, Merry Gentlemen” has a moderate samba feel and features the soprano saxophone throughout. Originally arranged for the WDR big band (Germany), this piece has very reasonable brass ranges, a brief piccolo double for the 2nd alto saxophone (optional), and some solo space for the drums. 5-4-4-4
